Additional Information:
The Board and Staff of the Discovery Center of Idaho are inspired to work with our presenting sponsor Saint Alphonsus Health Systems to bring BODIES REVEALED to the Treasure Valley from September 29, 2012, through March 31, 2013. BODIES REVEALED, the world-renowned exhibition of human bodies, has a powerful impact on how we see ourselves. The exhibition illustrates each of the body’s systems -- skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive, endocrine, and circulatory -- and substantiates the effects on the body of making healthy choices. In addition to twelve full-body specimens, the exhibition provides a comparison between the lungs of a smoker and non-smoker, and a healthy liver in contrast to a specimen with cirrhosis of the liver, as well as a number of other convincing contrasts that provide a visceral argument for living a healthy lifestyle.

The Discovery Center of Idaho is a community institution dedicated to inspiring lifelong interest and learning in science, technology, engineering and math. Hosting the BODIES REVEALED exhibition is an important vehicle to serve this mission.

Like all of science of today, medicine is rapidly being democratized. The unprecedented range of options and knowledge that medicine provides today compels each of us to better understand and take care of our bodies. As our responsibility for our own medical and health choices increases, so should our understanding of our bodies.

We encourage you to come explore, experience, and celebrate the wonder of ourselves and the human form at BODIES REVEALED from the fall of 2012 through March 31, 2013, at the Discovery Center of Idaho.
