What does STEM mean exactly? We hear it all the time and automatically just assume science, which is true don’t get us wrong, but it means a lot more than that. If you look up the actual definition of STEM, you’ll find that STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Way more than just plain old science.
STEM opens up the door to hands on learning, a great career, and with STEM you have the possibility to change the world. Cool, huh? In addition to being a science rock star, being a part of STEM means the opportunity to attend the camps that go with it. Here at the Discovery Center of Idaho, we have plenty of unique learning activities that make you want to never leave.
For example, we offer field trips. Schedule a time that you and your family would like to come in and then explore to your hearts content. There is always a new exhibit or activity to take part in. In addition, starting in the next couple months you will hear more details about our upcoming Spring Break and Summer science camps. Who knows the kind of experience you will have at those. Details to come soon.
In addition to field trips, and the upcoming camps, we have adult night, young discoverers, and an outreach program. For adult night, there is food, beverages, and the best part, no kids! Show up after work and explore what we have to offer all on your own. For young discoverers, it is all about putting the sparkle in their eye as they get to create something new. Join us for nights like Salt Crystal Leaves, where children learn how to make snow indoors with common household items!
Lastly, come take a look at our outreach program we have! There are festivals, a science show and engineering challenges. We want to make the most out of all the STEM activities possible and what better way than to show off your achievements.
STEM is an awesome area of study that as time goes by continues to get better and better! It is not just about science but it is a hands-on experience that you can leave from the Discovery Center and go tell the rest of your family and friends about.
