FALL BREAK CAMPS

Paleo CSI

Put your sleuthing skills to the test as we dig into the fossil record to determine how dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. We’ll compare modern forensics to the techniques that paleontologists use to unearth clues about the lives of creatures like Tinker the T. Rex.

WINTER BREAK CAMPS

This winter, choose from 6 individual day camps to create a schedule that works best for you!

STEAM Rex

Explore the science of paleontology through an art lens with Tinker the T. Rex. We’ll research what dinosaurs might have looked like when they roamed the earth and end up designing our own prehistoric creatures.

Grade: 1st-5th grades

Space Camp

Explore earth and space science and human space travel as you train like an astronaut, all from within the comfort and safety of the Discovery Center’s walls. A great camp for anyone!

Dino Bio 101

How did dinosaurs grow so big? And why are Tinker’s arms so small?!? We’ll take a closer look at the biology of tyrannosaurs and compare their physiology to humans in this biology-themed camp.

Grade: 1st-5th grades

Jurassic BRICKS!

What if dinos still roamed the earth? Could you build a city where we could peacefully coexist? Put your engineering skills to the test as we plan a prehistorically-friendly city of the future with LEGO bricks and Tinker the T. Rex.

The Chemistry of Color

Color your new year bright with this STEAM exploration of chemistry and its many applications. We’ll create beautiful designs that will be sure to cause a reaction!

The Science of Harry Potter Magic

Expecto some major fun on a STEM-based trip to Hogwarts. Visit Potions, Care of Magical Creatures, and more as we fly our broomsticks through the real science behind some magical fantasy.

AT&T GIRLS' CODING CAMP

Please keep your out for next year's AT&T Coding Camp!

As a participant in the AT&T All Girls' Coding Camp, you will be joining a community of strong, passionate girls and mentors as you learn to code. Build specific coding abilities while applying the computational thinking and problem-solving skills that will help you succeed with any programming language of the future. Make friends, and learn together, as you explore future opportunities in STEM fields and the relevance of computer science in our world today. Application submission due by Monday, September 30th. Camp registration costs are covered by the generous support of AT&T.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

1. 9th - 12th grade girls in Idaho
2. Girls who can commit to participating in all 5 Saturday sessions
3. Girls who enjoy building community and challenging themselves
4. Girls who are curious about computer science and/or STEM fields and professions
5. NO previous coding experience required! Only a curious mind and desire to learn to code

Grade: 9th-12th grade girls

Cost: NO COST thanks to the generous support from AT&T

Session Dates: November 2nd, November 9th, November 16th, December 7th

Event & Showcase: December 14th

Session Times: 9am-2pm

Details:
- First four sessions are devoted to building coding skills and providing mentorship
- Final two sessions focus on leadership to plan and run public coding activities during Hour of Code event during the last session on December 14th
- Registration is limited to 20 girls to ensure greater individualized instruction and enhance team building
- Valued at $500, the Center is able to offer the Coding Camp at NO COST to students due to the generous support of AT&T
